This emblem originates from an ancient coin minted during the coalition of the EPIROTE LEAGUE (232-167 B.C.) For this coin, the coalition used symbols that refer to the sacred land of Dodoni which, at the time, was the centre of the region. The face of the coin depicts the sacred pair of the Dodonian gods (Dione and Zeus), whereas the reverse side has the emblem selected for our club. This consists of the depiction of Bull, a sacred animal dating back to the ancient years of the Magna Mater, and also a symbol of Zeus. The bull is crowned with a wreath of oak leaves (oak being the sacred tree of Dodoni), including the inscription APEI ROTAN (of Epirus Men).
