The MVP award of the 7th matchday was awarded to Vangelis Platellas playing for AEK, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Stamatis Baknis, among the sponsors of the Club.
After the ceremony, the AEK player stated the following:
"This is a real distinction for me. It is very important to be receiving such an award and I wish to thank the fans that voted for me, as well as the Super League. The important fact about this match is that the team won. Of course, the fact that I scored two goals is really important because I helped my team and I am very happy about it."
- Many things changed in AEK since that match. How much have these changes affected your team?
"The arrival of a new coach is of course not the best thing for the players because they try to learn his philosophy. However, what we must do is keep working and get the team as high as possible."
- Can AEK close the gap with the championship's leader?
"AEK is a great club and we must fight until the end, in all matches. We are optimistic that we can go high."
Mr Baknis stated the following:
"It is very important that I presented this award to Vangelis Platellas because this specific player is a fighter too. Today is a special occasion for another reason as well: it's his birthday. We expect AEK to keep improving with every match and we hope it will go very high, where it belongs."
