The Best Goal award for matchday 15 was awarded to Thodoris Vasilakakis playing for Atromitos Athinon, who topped the competition organised by Super League Greece, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players and NOVA. The award was presented by the team manager N. Lazaridis.
After the ceremony, the Atromitos Athinon player stated:
You are honoured with the best goal award for the second time in three matchdays. Will you continue like this in 2018?
"I hope we are healthy in 2018 and I do not care whether I will score goals. My concern is to help my team; this is my goal: for the team to do well. If at the same time I score beautiful goals, then so much the better, and I will try to do so. Both the fans and us would like this. I hope everyone is healthy and that all will go well with the team. And goals are always welcome."
What are your aspirations with Atromitos for 2018?
"We said from the beginning of the season that our goal is to qualify for European competitions. This is our target, together with doing a good work. We cannot rest not even for a minute as we still have a long way ahead of us: we still have 15 very difficult matches to play. We know that victories and successes are the result of hard work. We aim at continuing like this and at going as high as possible."
Nikos Lazaridis
You said at the end of 2017 that Vasilakakis is a key player for Atromitos. What made you say this?
"It is not only the beautiful goals he scores; it’s his overall performance on the pitch. I knew him as an opponent too, I know his potential, but I believe that it still all depends on team work; the whole team aims at winning the match and through team work, players also stand out individually."
