The Super League 2015/2016 Championship is revealed through its statistical profile that includes many interesting individual data such as the number of players per nationality, per continent, per age; the number of participants per club; the average age of players per club; as well as club statistical data such as the total shots on target per club, the goals per shot on target, the assists, the successful crosses into area, the passes, the errors, the clearances, the fouls, and even the shots on bar.
Also, in the individual stats category, one can see the players with most participations, the players with most minutes played, the goal scorers as well as other interesting figures that prove that many times numbers… speak for themselves!
In the Super League 2015/2016 Championship participated 251 Greek players, i.e. 54%, whereas 154 players (33%) were EU nationals and 61 players (13%) were non-EU nationals.
The Super League Championship was a true… League of Nations, with a strong international presence, since the players starring on the pitch during the 2015/16 season came from 45 countries in total, based on their nationality. Spain and France had the lion's share with 25 players each, and countries such as Finland, Slovenia, Honduras, Colombia and Malta had 1 player each, among others.
In the allocation of foreign players per continent, based on their nationality, Europe leads the table with 159 players (74%), Asia only had 1 player (0.5%), and North America had 3 players (1.4%), among others.
The youngest player to enter the pitches of Super League during the 2015/16 season was Giorgos Tzelepis of Panthrakikos at the age of 16, whereas Henri Camara of Panetolikos was the oldest one as he participated in the Super League 2015/16 Championship at the age of 39. The greatest percentage of players, however – 80 players in total – was between 24 and 25 years old.
AEL Kalloni used 35 players in total and PAS Giannina 23 players, with the rest of the clubs covering the remaining range in their rosters. Panionios used 25 Greek players in its roster and also had the lowest average age with 23.8 years.
Olympiacos had 440 shots on target and was at the top of the relevant statistical category; the club did the same in the shots on goal category with 1 goal per 5.4 shots, as well as in the assists category with 45 assists and 13 shots on bar. PAOK had the most passes: 2,882, as well as most interceptions: 938. Panetolikos made the less errors, 1,166 in total. Panthrakikos had the most clearances, 149 in total.
Luiz Brito of Atromitos was the player who participated in all 30 matches of his club, whereas Vanderson Scardovelli of Platanias played for 2,734 minutes during the 2015/16 season.
Mihalis Manias of PAS Giannina was the player with most shots on target with 74 shots (1 per 7.4 shots were turned into a goal), whereas Brana Ilić of PAS Giannina had 65 out of 184 successful crosses into area.
Kostas Fortounis of Olympiacos was the top scorer of the Championship and scored 18 goals and also had 12 assists, topping this category as well.
Adrián Lucero of Xanthi made 381 passes in total (13.8 per match), Giorgos Athanasiadis of Panthrakikos had 92 clearances (3.8 per match) and Vangelis Mantzios of Levadiakos won 85 fouls (3.04 per match) and the same player was unlucky enough to… hit the bar of the opponent team 4 times.
