The Best Goal award of the 10th matchday was awarded to Thanasis Papageorgiou playing for Panthrakikos, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by FC Panthrakikos major shareholder, Mr Tasos Karaolanis.
After the ceremony, the Panthrakikos player stated:
"First of all, I wish to thank Mr Karaolanis for his kind wishes and words. I am really happy because my first goal as a player of Panthrakikos was voted as best goal of the 10th matchday of the Super League. I am not used to scoring goals, however I feel very good that this goal helped my side win an important point in PAOK's home. Winning an award has always been a target for me; I am glad it's been fulfilled and I keep on hoping for the best both for me and the team."
On whom the 28-year-old defender dedicates this goal to: "I wish to dedicate this award to my family and the people close to me. Also, to my second family, the team. Besides, successes and goals are the result of team effort. I hope that the good display we had against PAOK and this draw will boost our morale so we can have a better campaign for the remainder of the season and amass the points we must amass."
In conclusion, he talked about the upcoming match against AEK: "So far, we haven't made good and proper use of how strong we are when playing in our home. For this reason, we now must in ever match in DAK, no matter who our opponent is, to play for the best possible result in order to make up for the lost ground in the classification list."
Mr Karaolanis stated the following:
"At Panthrakikos, we all feel very happy about the goal scored by Thanasis Papageorgiou against PAOK and the award he won. The fact that his goal was voted as best goal of the matchday is an honour both for our team and the player. On the one hand, it was a very beautiful goal and on the other hand it was very important too, since it critically contributed to our team winning one point in the draw we achieved in PAOK's home, following an exceptional display. Thanasis has made a really good impression both as regards his character and his playing abilities these past two and a half years as a player of Panthrakikos; I wish him health and to have many more similar moments in the future with our team. At the same time, I hope today's ceremony is just the first one this season and that more will follow combined with the progress in the campaign that we expect our team to have from now on."
