The Best Goal award of the 11th matchday was awarded to Taxiarhis Fountas playing for AEK, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Andreas Stamatiadis, a veteran player of AEK.
After the ceremony, the AEK player stated the following:
On the goal:
"Veria had won a foul, Lagos sent away the ball with a header, I ran towards the ball, I realised my opponent would make an error, I placed myself in front of him, took the ball and scored the goal. When I saw the ball in the nets, I felt happy for my club and of course for the fans, that received joy from it."
On the victory of AEK in Veria:
"It was a really important away victory. It gives us strength to move on and continue with our work. We treat every match separately. We are ready to give our 100% in every match in order to achieve positive results."
On his position:
"This will be determined by the coach. Wherever the coach decides I should play, I will do my best to help the club and myself. I feel comfortable playing on the right, but it is the coach that decides."
Mr Stamatiadis stated the following:
"Since the first day in the club, I realised he has many qualifications. First and foremost, he is a fan of AEK and that is a major qualification. He is fast, he loves to evolve and I want to believe that he will prove me right and will also prove right all those that chose him to come play for AEK. It is up to him and let me add this as well: It reminds me of myself. I was 17 years old when I played for AEK and I was also playing on the right wing, but I believe that Taxiarhis has more qualifications than I and that he has the whole future in front of him."
