Super League says "No to Racism"

12 October 2015, 16:00

Super League, for the European Week against Racism, in cooperation with FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) – official collaborator of UEFA – will dedicate the 7th matchday of the championship (17-19 October 2015) to the information and awareness fight against Racism.

Super League participates in this European campaign for the ninth year in the row, aiming at reminding the fans and everyone involved in football that people cannot be discriminated and isolated due to racial or other criteria.

The Super League President Mr Giorgios Borovilos stated:

"Football is a powerful information and awareness tool in the fight against racism. By using football's dynamic, Super League actively participates and supports the European Week against Racism; besides, Super League has been participating in this campaign since the league's establishment. Let us not forget that, particularly in such a time such as the one recently experienced with the rise of refugee flows from the Middle East to our country, it is very important to promote positive examples and our humanity. Racism has no place in football."

During the 7th matchday of the Super League Championship, its Member clubs will implement a series of activities aiming at showing that Football knows no borders; the main message will be "Show Racism the Red Card", children escorting the players during line-up will be wearing t-shirts sporting a message against racism and at the same time the players, referees and children will show red cards and hold banners. Additionally, the team captains will wear FARE armbands, sound messages against racism will be broadcasted and relevant videos will be shown to all stadia with matrices.
