"A toy for children" is the initiative of Super League, in collaboration with its 18 Club-members, to distribute toys in all stadia of the Greek cities making up the football map of the top Greek football professional league.
During the 17th (21-23/12) and 18th (4-6/1) matchday of the Super League OPAP Championship, toys will be offered to all young fans attending the stadia, either in family stands or in gates announced by the clubs.
This initiative not only aims at offering toys to children, but also at sending a message of joy and solidarity during these arduous times for our society.
The president of Super League, Mr Yannis Moralis, noted, among others, the following:
"During this harsh period, I believe that football through appropriate action and initiative and proper planning, is able to give back to society through positive activities thus showing its innate compassion and offering help anyhow and anywhere it can. Towards this, it is with great joy today that all 18 clubs of the Super League present one more Social Responsibility initiative called "A toy for children". This initiative focuses on children and I believe that Christmas is the most appropriate time to implement it, since it is chiefly a holiday for young fans. By giving a toy to children, we also offer joy and the symbolism behind this act is really important. I would like to ask the media representatives to support and promote this initiative. Any issues that might currently exist should not overshadow this initiative so that we can all together prove that we can tell consequential from inconsequential things. To conclude, I wish again to thank the 18 Club-members of the Super League as well as the sponsors who actively and sensitively support the initiative "A toy for children"."
The Portfolio General Manager of EUROPEAN RELIANCE Mr Nikos Chalkiopoulos stated the following:
"European Reliance, in the framework of its Social Responsibility actions, actively supports the initiative of the Super League "A toy for children" aiming at raising awareness of the public as regards issues relating to children. This particular action is implemented following the highly successful action "A ball for children" for which European Reliance was a sponsor. European Reliance believes that sports is not just a physical activity. It is a social concept that all responsible corporate citizens should recognise as such and at the same time cultivate the propagation of its social message. During this period, society and children need more than ever collective actions that carry the message of participation and social responsibility. The action "A toy for children" is a part of a set of specific actions, bringing to the foreground the role of social solidarity".
Katerina Kaskanioti, Chief Platform & Content Officer at Nova, stated, among others, regarding the initiative of the Super League and its 18 Club-members:
"We wish to congratulate the Super League regarding its exceptional initiative called 'A toy for children' which reflects the true spirit of sports. It exemplifies sports as a top social activity and as a means of entertainment, namely the same way we think of it in Nova too. In particular during this period, sports should be a source of joy and entertainment for all, and especially for children. In addition, the fact that the toys will be given to young fans attending the stadia with their families during the holiday season, sends a strong message of optimism for the top Greek club competition as well as the future we dream of for Greek football, all of us who love and support it."
