Super League in collaboration with the Hellenic Council for Combating Doping (ESKAN) organises a series of educating seminars in Athens and Thessaloniki, with the participation of the medical teams of the clubs playing in the Greek top football league.
The first educating meeting will be held this Thursday in Athens and the respective one in Thessaloniki will be organised in the near future.
ESKAN will participate with representatives from its Board and the keynote speaker will be the member of ESKAN, Professor of Experimental Pharmacology and Head of the Pharmacology Laboratory of the Medical School of the University of Athens, Mr Nikolaos Sitaras, who will focus on the following subjects:
a) List of Prohibited Substances, and
b) Therapeutic Use Exemptions.
Mihalis Anagnostou, the Super League General Manager, stated the following: "Super League, since its founding, is an institutional collaborator of ESKAN. In this framework, we continue educating the staff of the Clubs. The issue of dealing with doping is important and to this end, the organising authority systematically collaborates with the official institutional body, ESKAN, both as regards the prevention and information as well as the systematic doping controls held during the OPAP Championship matches. We must invest on informing medical teams and through them the footballers themselves, since the combating of doping is on one hand a particularly important factor that secures fair play and at the same time has a serious impact on players' health. Through this joint initiative between the Super League and ESKAN we wish to send this clear message: Zero tolerance to doping and prevention through information. No one should risk their lives by using prohibited and highly harmful substances."
