The Best Goal award of the 19th matchday was awarded to Stefanos Athanasiadis playing for PAOK, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA.
After the ceremony, the PAOK player pointed out:
"When the team plays well, when we win, then more awards come our way. The positive thing, however, is that I help the team. This is what I want, from the moment I enter the pitch and no matter what I do on it; I wish we will receive more similar awards, both my teammates and I."
On whether a new period starts with the team now focusing on the second round of the regular season of the championship, he said:
"Definitely; the second round has started. We wish we will all be healthy. This is what we want and I hope that at the end we will be able to celebrate a title."
On his multi-faceted role on the pitch and his usage in positions other than his natural position in conjunction with the fact that he is also one of the captains, he said:
"It is not a matter of who the captain is. It's about playing in the position the coach tells you to play. You should first of all not oppose the coach and then do your best, whatever your position on the pitch is."
On how he feels playing for a club that according to newspaper headlines want to beef up their roster, he said:
"All right, look… Football players do not pay attention to these things. Other people are responsible for these things. I believe that no matter which player comes, we will help him to quickly acclimatise so he can help us as much as possible."
On whether he and his teammates are thinking about the upcoming home match against Olympiacos, he said:
“No, no... We treat each match separately. We now rest, then we play against Panetolikos and we are treating each game separately and differently."
On whether the pressure is greater now, he said:
"There is always pressure when you are playing for PAOK. There is pressure to remain in the first place and now there is pressure to stay near the club leading the board and, when the time comes, to regain the first place."
On whether PAOK can repeat their displays at the beginning of the season, when the team's main characteristics were the lively play and the intense pressing on the opponent, he said:
"This is what we want; this is what all players and the coach want. We definitely have some reserves left. As I said, the second round has started and I hope it will kick off the same way the first round did."
On everyone in the club addressing the supporters following the away match against Kalloni and whether they are happy by their response, he said:
"The fans and supporters never leave us alone, but what I said following the match against Kalloni was that we need them by our side in the difficult campaign ahead of us. Yes, of course we are happy."
