"We are fortunate, we have everything at our disposal and all issues are taken care of," pointed out the captain of FC Atromitos Sokratis Fytanidis in his exclusive interview for the official website of the Super League. When asked what is the reason behind his decision to remain in the Peristeri club, he said that: "It was a conscious decision because through this club I was called to the Greek National Team while at the same time the goals for Atromitos continue to be high," and at the same time asked the fans of Atromitos to support the team: "What we want is for more fans to come to the matches and support us to go on. We want a full-house in all matches." The full interview:
Question by Pantelis Triantafyllis
Why did you choose to remain in Atromitos despite proposals from more well-known Greek as well as international clubs?
"It was a conscious decision because through this club I was called to the Greek National Team while at the same time the goals for Atromitos continue to be high."
Question by Nikos Skondras
Why does the club slow down when it leads a match by 2-0 when it can score several goals, in your opinion?
"It is something that happens a lot in football since it is subconscious for every player to reserve his strength and properly manage the match. It is definitely something the fans do not like, but it is wise to try to conserve your strength for the next match."
Question by Thanassis Stergiou
How much does your love for football give you strength for your everyday life?
"Football is my first thought in the morning and my last though in the evening, it has been in my mind since my childhood and it gives me great strength."
Question by Konstantinos Latifis
The team continues to be competitive and it evolves, not only by adding new players, but by preserving its main roster. What does a club need to make a name for itself, to go beyond the usual standards and never look back, in your opinion?
"I believe that the first element is peace of mind and to continue working along the same standards it has applied over the last years. We are fortunate, we have everything at our disposal and all issues are taken care of, therefore the only thing we have to do is work every day and evolve. What we want is for more fans to come to the matches and support us to go on. We want a full-house in all matches and not in isolated matches and this will definitely happen if our display is good."
Question by Dimitris Marfantas
What are your aspirations as an Atromitos player? Are these aspirations in line with a good campaign for the club?
"They are definitely in line and this is one of the reasons I remained in Atromitos because I wish to achieve more in my career through the club's own successes."
Question by Tassos Petrou
We see that Atromitos is not strong enough when playing away from Peristeri. Why does this happen in your opinion?
"No, I do not believe that we are not strong enough, we of course play more offensively at home, but we can see that the club achieved great results in the past two years in difficult away matches too."
Question by Giorgos Katsimis
Atromitos scores 1 goal in every 10.6 shots, with 5 times the posts stopped the ball from entering the goal in the first 6 matchdays. Do you find this alarming?
"It would be alarming if we did not score any goals, but since we make the shots, we will score more and amass more points too. The season did not start the way we wanted, we lost points we did not expect to lose, but even in matches with lost points, Atromitos was dominant in the pitch and we did not win these points through mere circumstance or our own errors. We see however that the club continues to be in the top positions of the classification list and we will continue to work even harder in the future so we can go higher since our goal is to be among the first three top clubs in the ranking."
Question by Vassiliki Tzevelekou
Your next match is against Asteras in Tripoli. What do you have to pay attention to in order to win, in your opinion?
"We have to focus on the fact that when we have a high quality display, we have the ability to be able to win every match. Besides, the club in most matches is considered a favourite and what remains is for us to prove this title right through our display and by winning the matches."
Question by Ioannis Karystinos
Which do you believe is the highlight of your career?
"There are several beautiful moments, many of which with Atromitos like the final against Olympiacos, my participation in the Greek National Team and our win in Alkmaar despite the fact that we did not qualify, but we were able to show how strong we are. I hope to have many more highlights and beautiful moments and also to win a trophy with the club."
Question by Dimitris Rigas
What are your hobbies?
"I spend the time with my family. Due to my work, I spend many hours at home whether I want it or not and I try to be dedicated when there."
