The MVP and the Best Goal awards of the 13th matchday were awarded to Silva Huanderson and Apostolos Vellios respectively, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The awards were presented by the Club's veteran player Mr Yorgos Karaiskos and Mr Antonis Hadjigeorgou, Media and Communication Manager of the "Vikos" company, one of the club's grand sponsors.
After the ceremony, Apostolos Vellios said:
"Awards are won by the whole team. The team helps me every day and they also help me in the matches I play. It's about team effort. I am of course happy, but these awards fill me with confidence about the future. And of course it's all about working harder, nothing else."
On the previous match and the 0-0 result against Panthrakikos: "We were a bit nervous. We really wanted to win that match. It would have been three really useful points for the campaign; we won one point and I would be happier about this award if we actually won the match. In any case we focus on the remaining matches in the Cup and the Championship."
On the Greece National Team and the rumours about coach Michael Skibbe picking him to play for the team: "This possibility fills me with happiness. I am honoured by these rumours. My job is football and the work I do is proven on the pitch."
On the transfer rumours about him: "I've been through situations like this in the past too, when I was younger. It isn't something I can't handle right now. My job is to train, I am not interested in anything else. Right now I play for Iraklis and keep on going as I do every day."
Silva Huanderson said: "I am really happy. This award does not belong to me only, it belongs to all people loving Iraklis. It belongs to the fans, to the people working in the team and to the players too. These awards mean that we are doing well in the Super League. I hope this will continue and that we will win more awards as a result."
On the campaign from now on and what his expectations are about Iraklis this season, he said: "I hope we will get the best possible position in the Super League and have a good campaign in the Greek Cup."
