The MVP award of the 5th matchday was awarded to Răzvan Raț playing for PAOK, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA.
After the ceremony, the PAOK player stated:
On the award: "I am really happy for this award. I feel really well both on a personal and on a team level. For this, I wish to thank first of all my teammates. I do not think about how happy I am or how much I can achieve my goals. I do well, the team does well and I am happy."
On PAOK's upcoming matches: "Certain matches are definitely harder than others. But they are all equally difficult. It's really wrong to think each match is different. We need to continue playing the same way we do now, to play every match as if it's the last one. If we achieve these goals, we can aim higher; but it's still too soon."
On the secret behind his good displays: "I don't think there is a secret. It's my character, my personality. Ever since I left Shakhtar, I also believed it would be hard, but it's easy to communicate in Spain and in England."
On the number of goals he wants to score this season: "This is not my job and I cannot be a prophet. I feel really well when I score because I offer immediate assistance to the team. However, my job focuses on assists. Of course, this is secondary as my primary job is defending. Following that, I make sure to make assists and whenever I get the opportunity to score a goal too."
On the weather conditions in Greece: "It's definitely really good, from a psychological point of view as well, for the weather to be nice and to be warm and sunny. It's better than raining. My family of course also likes this weather better. I would personally prefer if it were a bit colder, despite more warm, but the weather is ideal the way it is now."
On Athanasiadis and the Greek and Romanian National Teams: "Firstly, I wish to congratulate Klaus. He played in both Greece's matches, because despite having been called for the match against Romania, he did not play. This is really very important for a good player because it gives him confidence. I want Greece to quality because I have friends and teammates here. I believe Greece will make a comeback. I do not believe Romania is the favourite."
On his 100 caps for Romania: "It's not only about the 100 caps, it's also the fact that I play for the National Team for the past 13 years and I am also the captain. If someone asked me 13 years ago, I would say this is the "limit". The only thing I wish for is to play in a World Cup. I hope my feet will help me achieve this. I do not feel like quitting football yet. After the Euro qualifiers, and I hope we will qualify, I also hope to participate in the World Cup qualifiers and for my wish to come true and play in the tournament phase. I will need to be really good with my club too in order to be good with the National Team as well."
