The MVP and Best Goal awards were awarded to Petros Mantalos, player of AEK, who topped the competition organised by Super League Greece, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The awards were presented by Mr N. Hatzitheodorou and Mr N. Iordanou.
After the ceremony, the AEK player said:
"When you receive two awards in one matchday, then you can feel happy about it, as any player would feel. The important thing is for the team to win and get the three points in every match, be it an easy or difficult game. This will make me doubly happy."
- Does the fact that those two awards coincided with AEK's victory make them even more important?
"The three points make me happier than the two trophies. These are driven to the background."
- Was this goal one of the most beautiful goals you have scored in your career?
"It was the best goal I have scored so far."
Nikos Hatzitheodorou, a fan of AEK who presented the Best Goal award to the player and comes from the same city as him, pointed out:
"It's one of his best goals - until the next one. I believe that our beloved AEK is very lucky because it has in its power the best Greek player and, proportionally, Petros is very lucky to be playing in the greatest Greek club. For some years now AEK is at the hands of a man who is one of us and that means that the millions of fans of AEK can and should feel secure."
The MPV award of the 3rd matchday was presented to the AEK captain by Danny Iordanou, whose firm is among the Club's sponsors:"
It's a very joyful moment because Mantalos is a leader. He is the most complete Greek attacking midfielder at the moment and presenting an award to your favourite club's captain for such achievements, is the best thing. I am optimistic about the future and as the coach said, step by step we will go higher. The team has good players, a good coach, a good administration and is in a good condition. This good condition is apparent both on and off the pitch."
