The MVP award of the 17th matchday was awarded to Mehdi Abeid playing for Panathinaikos, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA.
After the ceremony, the Panathinaikos player stated:
"This award offers me great satisfaction. I of course work in order to win trophies, but the most important thing is to help my team and to do my best so that Panathinaikos can reach as high as possible."
On whether this award is a reward for his efforts since the beginning of the season:
"It definitely is. This is one of my goals and I always aim higher. I wish to always improve things and to be able to develop, thus helping the team as well."
On whether he expects the club to win an important trophy, such as the Greek Cup, at the end of the season:
"We are definitely trying to do that. The team aims at reaching higher and we have to continue like this and always be better on the pitch."
On the away match against Panetolikos:
"I believe that if we play well, then we have many chances to win the three points in the match against Panetolikos. It all depends on us, it's all in our heads and if we play well and do things correctly, then we will win."
On what is the key to win this match:
"I would say that the key to win this match is to focus. We have to play a good game and to score the goal at the right moment, without wasting ten attempts to do it. Given that, we need to be determined and not give up."
On the lessons the Panathinaikos young team learned during the first half of the championship and what they should not repeat during the second half:
"We made mistakes during the first round which are due to the lack of experience. But I would say that things have greatly improved both on a personal on a team level. I believe that we have a good side, we play well and that we will do even better in 2014."
