The MVP of the 1st matchday was awarded on Friday, September 9, to Marinaldo Cícero da Silva "Chumbinho" playing for Atromitos Athens, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was given by Giorgos Korakakis, a veteran player of the club.

After the ceremony, the Atromitos player stated:

"I am overjoyed to be awarded the MVP of the matchday award. I hope that I'll continue with great performances and help my club, Atromitos to getting positive results. If God wills it, I wish I could always receive this award".

Could Atromitos this year perform better than the last one?

"Everyday, we train hard in order to be able to improve in each match and to maintain our winning strike.  Our goal is to win a trophy in Greece".

Mr. Korakakis noted that:

"Chumbinho should have been given more chances by Olympiacos because he is a good player, but we are very happy to have him on board in Atromitos".
