The MVP award of the 27th matchday was awarded to Marcus Berg playing for Panathinaikos, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Yorgos Kapouranis, a veteran player of Panathinaikos.
After the ceremony, the Panathinaikos player stated:
-On whether this was his best display as a Panathinaikos player:
"I do not know. I believe that this was one of our best displays as a team and we did a really good team work. On a personal level, I had a good match and I am happy with my display."
-On being named MVP of matchday 27:
"First of all, I must thank all those who voted for me. It is always nice to win an award, but I also wish to win things with the team and this is the most important part. When the team plays well, I try to help it play better. There are eleven players on the pitch – without the substitutions – and when everyone does what they are supposed to do, then we can achieve good things."
-On which of the two was most important, the goal he scored or his assist in the derby:
"I believe both. It's important to lead by 1-0 before half-time, but to give an early finish to the match by leading 2-0 is also important. Both were really important in this particular match."
-On his return in the Swedish National Team and his participation in the friendly against Turkey:
«It was a beautiful thing. It's been some months since the last time I played for the National Team. It was really nice to return. It was a difficult match, I played in the first half and felt good. I did my job. It's nice to be returning to the National Team, but I am here now and I need to work hard and to focus on our obligations for the championship."
Mr Kapouranis stated the following:
"Berg is a blessing for Panathinaikos. I am doubly happy and I told this to him as well. Because he not only has an exceptional physical condition and proves his talent every day, he is also an exceptional man, causing no problems on and off the pitch. I believe him playing in Panathinaikos and the Greek championship is an honour for Greek football."
