The MVP award of the 1st matchday was awarded to Lucas Pérez Martínez playing for PAOK, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Livardas, one of the sponsors of FC PAOK.
After the ceremony, the PAOK player stated:
"I am pleased, but what interests me most is the team. What I personally have to do is to work hard every day, but I once again repeat that what matters most is the team."
- Is your start in FC PAOK as you imagined it to be?
"I am satisfied both from the first match of the 1st matchday of the championship and also from the match against FC Schalke 04 and I hope, as of course all our fans, that in the coming match of Tuesday against FC Schalke 04, we will win and the team will be able to join the groups phase."
- You were awarded mainly because, you were exceptional in set pieces. Is this your main advantage, or is it one of many?
"Of course I believe that I have also other abilities too, apart from set pieces, but I wish to once again underline that this was not a win of Lucas, but a win of FC PAOK, and what matters most is the team."
- The coach uses you on the right wing while you are left-footed; Do you believe that this fits you or you would rather deliver more if you played on the left wing?
"I once again repeat that the most important thing of all is the advantage of the team. I also wish to say that my coach is pleased from my performance in the position I am playing and so am I. This is a position I know, as I have played it also in the past and therefore I have no problem, as we are all pleased."
- Do you consider fatigue from playing consecutive matches?
"Yes, certainly fatigue is a thing that affects the team, and that is precisely the reason why we made the preparation phase, so that the team will be able to face the demands of playing consecutive matches," and that was the conclusion of the Spaniard offensive midfielder of FC PAOK.
