The MVP award of the 29th matchday was awarded to Kostas Fortounis playing for Olympiacos, who topped the competition organised by Super League Greece, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Savvas Theodoridis.
After the ceremony, the Olympiacos player stated:
"Mr Savvas has a long history in Olympiacos. I tried to work so that we could achieve the targets we have set as a team. First of all, to play a good match this Sunday and then win the Greek Cup."
-How special is this award and would you like to dedicate it to someone?
"First of all, I dedicate this award to my teammates who make me an even better player, to my family and to the club."
Mr Theodoridis stated the following:
"It is with great pleasure, really great pleasure that I am presenting this trophy to Kostas Fortounis. He will win hundreds such trophies given his value. He is an amazing player and an amazing guy. He has his family by his side. I happened to meet his father and his mother. They come with us to most matches of Olympiacos played in northern Greece. Kostas is a very humble and very good guy. He is a great player. I've known him since he was little because he was a player in our Academies. I cannot say whether what happened was right or wrong. He left, went to Germany and returned to Olympiacos, his great love. He produces the rare spectacle fans see on the pitch. Six months ago I said that Fortounis is the greatest ten to have ever played in Greece. And you can see that I was not wrong since Kostas still has many things to contribute to Greek football. I totally believe in him and it's not only me. All the people of Olympiacos love him very much. I see this in how people treat Kostas. This trophy is a reward for Kostas's efforts. Olympiacos is a different team with Kostas this year and I must confess this. And I expect many more. The other day I said he is the best ten in Europe. I did not say this in random. Kostas will prove this in a very short time. May he be well and may he always have similar moments."
