The Best Goal award of the 24th matchday was awarded to Dudu Cearense playing for OFI, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by the U-15 coach Mr Kostas Pantzaridis along with two young OFI footballers.
After the ceremony, the OFI player stated:
"I wish to thank the people that voted for me and gave me this award.
I also wish to thank all my teammates and my coaches for their assistance since my first day in the club. I wish to dedicate this award to all members of the club.
This award is very important for the team's reputation as well as for me. However, the most important thing is that the team was successful and this is what we all strive for since the team is above everyone."
On how impressive is the fact that the first time he touched the ball as an OFI player he scored such a goal, he said: "This is something that's never happened to me before, in my career. Namely to score a goal as soon as I touch the ball, my team to win and to win this award. This is something extraordinary, even magical.
It is also important since I have worked very hard during the weeks I am here in order to get ready and be able to help the team. It was not easy for me to be to get ready and get on the pitch. I am really happy I was able to be ready again to play and I now wish to continue improving even more so I can help my team on the pitch."
On whether the fact that he has scored two goals in two matches is a good omen, he commented: "It definitely is. This good start really helps me. I returned to Greece to play football and enjoy it. To have support and re-live important moments, such as the ones we are living now following our qualification in the Greek Cup semi-final. There will be more challenges in the championship and this is why we should remain focused on our goals."
Mr Pantzaridis stated the following: "On behalf of the coaches and all personnel of the FC OFI academies, I wish to say how thankful we are we were given the opportunity to stand by Dudu and present this award to such a great footballer as him.
This proves the relationship between the Club and the youth academies, and the fact that the former these last years tries to embrace our effort.
We all wish Dudu to be healthy and to score goals in every match; we also wish to the club to fulfil its targets."
