The MVP award of the 1st matchday was awarded to Dimitris Kyriakidis playing for Panetolikos, who topped the competition organised by Super League Greece, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by the team's football director, Makis Belevonis.
After the ceremony, the Panetolikos goalkeeper said: "Every player tries and plays in order to contribute in the best possible way. I wish I could be given this award in every matchday. I am happy about the award, but I am even happier about the point we won in a difficult away match and against a difficult opponent such as AEK."
On his personal goals: "I wish to be healthy. I wish to work and improve every day. I achieved a great goal which was to be asked to play for the National Team, but I know that I must not stop there. I will keep working hard and my next dream is to play for the National Team.
On whom he dedicates this award to: "First of all to me and all my efforts. I also definitely dedicate it to my teammates and the family of Panetolikos."
On the team's campaign: "I am not satisfied by our campaign so far. We have our ups and downs and we must fix this. We have a long way ahead of us and when we play both a Sunday match and a Wednesday match every week, we must be stable and try in every matchday to win points by having a positive competitive display and by being consistent."
On what he wants to say to the fans of the team: "We are as upset as they are. They do not enjoy the spectacle they used to enjoy in the previous years. We must prove that we can do more and gain their trust. And we must all together make Panetolikos bigger because the team does not deserve to be in this position in the classification list nor does it deserve to have a stadium with empty stands. We must try all together to be strong again."
