The MVP award of the 9th matchday was awarded to Diego Romano playing for Iraklis, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Savvas Kofidis.
After the ceremony, the Iraklis player stated:
"This award does not belong only to me, it belongs to the whole team, it belongs to everyone working hard and doing their very best for Iraklis. We achieved a great victory, I am really happy about it. I want to thank my family that are always by my side. Nevertheless, we now must look ahead because we are playing a very difficult match on Sunday and we need to be 100% focused in order to achieve a positive result."
On the upcoming match against Olympiacos: "It's football. We believe in what we do, every day. I believe that if we are concentrated and have faith, as we did in the last match, we will be able to achieve something important. The victory we achieved gave us a lot this is why we must have faith, focus on our team, focus on what we can do, focus on the game and accomplish our target."
On the goal he prefers between the two he scored: "I believe that the first one was more difficult and maybe more beautiful too. But I personally like the second one because I enjoy entering the box and taking headers. I am not very tall to do this, but I have faith."
On the effect this award has on his psychology: "I was given this award in a really good moment for me. I needed it because I love what I do very much and I try to do it better every day. It also happened during an important match for the whole team and this is why it was even more important."
Mr Kofidis stated the following:
"Diego is one of the players I admire for his football talent as well as his football genius. Today my joy is double because it's an honour for me to be presenting this award to him for his performance. I believe that Diego can keep having similar displays really often."
On the match of Iraklis against Olympiacos: "First of all, it will be a really beautiful football match, in a fantastic atmosphere since we are talking about an amazing stadium. Olympiacos are without a doubt the best Greek team, however our team has the opportunity to play a strong game, to compete and win what they can win from the Greek champions. I believe that we can do it, we can be successful and of course this match is a great challenge for the players of Iraklis. I hope Diego will repeat his display against Atromitos since this will give us more chances."
In relation to the match Olympiacos played for the Champions League: "Olympiacos are on such a high level and so prepared that these matches do not affect them that much. They could be affected by their complacence following such a great victory on a European level, but not by their fatigue. This is often the case with all clubs and not only now with Olympiacos."
Regarding the campaign of Iraklis so far: "This is a transitional year for Iraklis; the team's first concern should be their staying in the Superleague and, after that, to set the foundations so they can be competitive in the following championships."
