The Best Goal award of the 1st matchday was awarded to Cristian Gabriel Chávez playing for PAS Giannina, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Alekos Kachrimanis, the Prefect of Epirus.
After the ceremony, the PAS Giannina player stated:
"I am very happy for the goal, but even more so for PAS Giannina. I will continue to work hard and I need more time to achieve my targets. I wish to thank my coach and teammates that help me so much. My teammates are all good guys and good footballers. The fans look forward to PAS Giannina scoring more goals, not only from me, but I assure them that they will see more from me. The Greek championship is difficult and there are many good footballers. PAS Giannina though, can achieve much more."
Mr Alekos Kachrimanis stated the following:
"Congratulations! I wish you the time in PAS Giannina to be for both you and the team a superb period."
After the ceremony, the coach assistant Mr Giorgos Georgopoulos stated the following:
"First of all, I wish to extend my congratulations to our footballer for the superb goal he scored, which was the result of a great teamwork and an excellent pass from Tsoukalas. Cristian Chávez, distinguished by his great quality in the final effort, scored a beautiful goal. We have a footballer of high quality and we expect even more from him. I believe that this is only the first of many goals he will score, and we all wish for him to have an excellent season and receive many more awards. The finish was difficult because the player converges and finds the goalkeeper blocking his near side, therefore the sole solution was to chip the ball over him. This was a superb finish and it was the only way to score in this occasion."
