The MVP award of the 16th matchday was awarded to Christos Aravidis playing for Panionios, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by the club's doctor, Mr Christos Daras.
After the ceremony, the Panionios player stated:
"I feel really proud. I would like to talk about Christos Daras who is first my friend and then an exceptional doctor and human being who supports with all his heart and soul and any financial and any other means the club which at the moment needs people in order to be able to survive and do better in the future. I am happy we have people like Mr Daras by our side, who supports us every day and during everything. I wish, and I mean that, we will have more people that will be like Mr Daras. This award is really important to me because the effort done by all the players is really big, we have a tough road ahead of us, under challenging conditions. We all agree that we should be united and try our best for the future."
On whom he dedicates this award to: "I wish to first dedicate this to my teammates and the team, to the effort done. Then to my family and to the people that support me daily, during the ugly and the beautiful moments in my life."
On the comment he made for Michalis Pavlis: "You are correct, you talk about Michalis, whom I know personally but not as much as the other guys, but I know him well. I am certain Michalis will overcome this difficult moment in his life as well. I would really like to say something from the bottom of my heart: People and athletes with the moral standards and persistence of Michalis should have a more important part in society compared to today. I believe that no man having such moral standards and persistence would go unnoticed. I wish him all the best and that he will continue with his head high."
Mr Daras stated the following:
"I am not honouring Aravidis, Aravidis is the one who honoured me by asking me to present this award to him. This award he receives today is really important because Christos Aravidis was voted as most valuable player while playing in a team with 10 Greek players, who play under challenging conditions, whereas the players of other clubs have as teammates 10 Argentine players, international players who have signed huge contracts, therefore you realise how important this award is. It is really important to be voted as most valuable player of the matchday when your teammates are Greeks playing under different conditions than these in other clubs. This is why I said that the worth of this award is far greater than those of other teammates who received the same award in the past and are not Greek."
On the financial assistance he offers to Panionios: "Both I and everyone else who loves this club and these boys, try to do our best. I believe we should all help without asking for any rewards, either in administration or otherwise, because we should not forget that the administration of Panionios is currently run by the Amateur Division. This administration is burdened heavily and called upon to cover a lot of ground that is very difficult to cover. This is why the fans of Panionios who really believe in Panionios, not by name only or happenstance, should help our club now during this difficult period until it emerges out of the problems that have accumulated over the years."
On how he sees Panionios in 2014: "He already has a good position in the classification list and I believe the team will face no problems this year."
