The MVP of the 14th matchday was awarded to Charis Mavrias playing for Panathinaikos, who topped the competition organised by Super League, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Giorgos Kapouranis, president of the Panathinaikos Soccer Schools and veteran player of the club.
After the ceremony, the Panathinaikos player stated:
On receiving the MVP award of the 14th matchday:
This is a motive for me to continue working hard. However, the whole team deserves this award for their work inside the pitch. And this was obvious from the way we played in the match.
On whether the MVP title is a rewarding for his efforts:
It is a rewarding. What I need to do is to work hard.
On the next day in Panathinaikos following the derby against Olympiacos:
Our job as professional players is to treat every match separately and to be equally reliable and focused in every match.
On whether he plans to conquer titles with Panathinaikos:
I wish to win many titles with Panathinaikos… Because this is the club I love.
Mr Kapouranis stated the following:
On presenting Charis Mavrias with the award:
I am particularly happy because many young players play for the A team and Charis comes from the soccer schools of Panathinaikos. I am happy that Charis, along with Houhoumis, play for the A team and let us not forget that many more young players are coming behind them that currently play in the Peania Academies.
On the progress of Mavrias:
Since I know his nature, I will say that he has many years ahead of him to work. At the moment, the only thing required is the daily good work and the results are visible to all. Because I have been watching Charis all these years, he improves gradually each day, each month, each year. He has a steady progress and this is due to his work and his really good nature.
