"Panathinaikos is family, passion, awe… It's the club that gave me everything and I owe it everything!" said, among other things, Carlos Zeca in his interview for the official website of the Super League.
The Panathinaikos captain said that the Greek Cup is the team's biggest goal for this season, that the Green Clover's fans are "half the team" and that he "will be happy to end his football career in the club." The full interview:
Is winning the Cup the team's biggest goal for this season?
"Yes, definitely. It's a goal we had set from the beginning and it's now our biggest goal. We want it and we must make it!"
Do you believe that the team performs better following the appointment of the new coach?
"I believe that each coach has a certain mentality. Things were not well before and it was both the coach's fault and our fault. There was a change and we now play better, but this is how football is."
Question by Dimitris Papayannis
What elements did Mr Stramaccioni add to your game?
"He works a lot on tactics, he tries to explain to the players the moves he wants from them and how the team must function and I believe that the "key" is that we follow his instructions."
Question by Vassilis Tsakiridis
What is your most beautiful moment in Greece and your most beautiful moment as a player of Panathinaikos?
"Off the pitch, it was definitely when my daughter was born in Athens! With the team, it was my first day in Panathinaikos together with winning the Greek Cup as well as the 0-3 result in the "Karaiskakis" stadium."
Question by Panayotis Karamelidis
Although it's still very early to be talking about this, would you like to end your career in Panathinaikos?
"Yes, of course, why not? You can never know what the future will hold, but it's the club that gave me everything and I owe it everything. If all goes well, I will be happy to end my football career here."
Question by Yorgos Papadopoulos
What is Panathinaikos to you?
"Panathinaikos is family, passion, awe… I told you before that everything I have done in my career so far, it has been with Panathinaikos and I am really happy to be part of such a great Club!"
What would you like to say to the fans and supporters of the team?
"They are amazing; they have been supporting us all these years both in good and in bad moments. They want the team to win, we understand what they are going through and how they feel; they are… half the club, as I recently said! I want to tell them to continue being who they are and to help us the way they only know and can…"
What is your personal target?
"My target is the same as the target of Panathinaikos. Namely to win more titles and to keep improving by being part of this historic club and making our fans happy."
Question by Konstantinos Papachristos
With which of your teammates do you hang out the most?
"I hang out with many guys… I'd say that I am closest with Mladen (Petrić), Tasos (Lagos), Sergio (Sánchez), Nano and Luke (Steele)."
Were you not a professional footballer, what would you rather be and why?
"I always believed I would become a footballer, this is what I wanted to do anyway since I was a kid… Therefore, I don't know what I would have done otherwise. I would maybe work in a cafeteria or a mall, but, I repeat, football was always the thing on my mind."
