The MVP award of the 10th matchday was awarded to Alberto Botía playing for Olympiacos, who topped the competition organised by Super League Greece, the Panhellenic Association of Professional Players (PSAP) and NOVA. The award was presented by Mr Savvas Theodoridis.
After the ceremony, the Olympiacos player stated:
"This award is very important. It is however the result of team work. It belongs to the whole team. It was an important match for us and we achieved an important victory. I want to continue and finish the season in the best possible way and with confidence. We want to work well and properly until the end."
Is the goal against Panathinaikos the most important goal you have scored in your career?
"Yes, it is one of the most important goals given that I have not scored that many. It was scored during a derby, against a major opponent, Panathinaikos. It is important for the campaign and the club. Yes, I believe that it's one of the most important goals in my career."
Nevertheless, you also contributed greatly in the goal you denied when tackling Leto, do you agree?
"It's defence. It's part of the game. Of course, it was a certain goal. In the next minute, we scored a goal. There were some beautiful and important moments for our team. I hope we will continue like this."
To what extent are you worried by the situation in the Greek championship given that, until the very last minute, you did not know whether you were playing a match that weekend? And how difficult is your preparation in view of the team's many obligations?
"It is indeed difficult for us to prepare. This is why we work having in mind that we will have a match to play every Saturday. We have a difficult schedule. We have important matches ahead for us up until Christmas break. We try to work keeping in mind that all matches will be played normally."
Mr Savvas Theodoridis stated the following:
"I am particularly happy to be presenting this award today to an exceptional man, an amazing footballer and a professional player with great moral standards. During the most critical match, maybe even one of the most important matches in the Greek championship between the two "eternal opponents", he proved that he deserves this award and many more. And why do I say this? Because he determined the match outcome in a single minute. He denied a certain goal when tackling Leto in an amazing way. And in the next minute, he scored the goal. So, you see what happened. He enthused Olympiacos, the fans and his teammates. And this is why the result of the first half was 3-0, a unique score. I therefore congratulate him and wish him to always have moments like this one. Botía is a really great player. And the most important thing is that he is an exceptional man. All clubs would like players like him with such moral standards and so competent."
